TRADITIONAL
INGREDIENTS
- 250 ml of sago
- 1.5 litres of milk
- 250 ml of sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp margarine or butter
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 t vanilla flavoring
- apricot jam
METHOD
Soak the sago for 3-4 hours in 500 ml of milk. Microwave 1 litre of milk, salt and margarine for 10 minutes on High in the Argilla Large Gourmet Roaster. Meanwhile, beat the egg yolks and sugar until creamy. Add the soaked milk-sago mixture to the boiled milk mixture and mix well. Microwave it on High for 5 minutes. Remove from the microwave and stir well. Microwave it for another 5 minutes and stir well again. Now add the egg yolk mixture and stir well. Microwave it on High for 5 minutes and stir well again. Beat the egg whites stiffly. Gently fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites and vanilla. Leave for 15 minutes to set. Blop apricot jam here and there. Enjoy with custard and/or ice cream.
CONDENSED MILK
INGREDIENTS
- 1½ cups sago
- 3 cups of water
- 2 cups of milk
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 1 tin of condensed milk
- 2 eggs + 1 egg separated
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cinnamon to sprinkle on top (optional)
METHOD
Mix sago, water, milk and salt in the Large Gourmet Roaster. Cook for 3 minutes at 100% power in the microwave oven. Stir. Microwave for a further 7 minutes, stirring after each minute. Add the rest of the ingredients, except the fine cinnamon. Stir well. Separate the white and the yolk of 1 egg and beat the white stiffly. Fold the stiffly beaten egg white into the sago pudding until well mixed. Leave for 15 minutes to set.
Blop apricot jam here and there. Enjoy with custard and/or ice cream.
INGREDIENTS – CUSTARD
- 10 – 15 ml custard powder (depends on how stiff you want it)
- 250 ml of milk
- 10 – 15 ml sugar (depends on how sweet you want it)
- 5 ml vanilla essence
- pinch of salt
METHOD
First prepare the custard powder with a small amount of the milk to avoid lumps. Add the rest of the milk, sugar and pinch of salt. Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until it begins to boil – stirring every 30 seconds. Add the vanilla essence. Stir and serve hot or cold.
TRADISIONEEL
BESTANDDELE

- 1,5 liter melk
- 250 ml suiker
- n knippie sout
- 1 eetlepel margarien of botter
- 3 eiers, geskei
- 1 t vanieljegeursel
- appelkooskonfyt
METODE
Week die sago vir 3-4 uur in 500 ml melk. Mikrogolf 1 liter melk, sout en margarien vir 10 minute op Hoog in die Argilla Large Gourmet Roaster. Klits intussen die eiergele en suiker tot romerig. Voeg die geweekte melk-sago-mengsel by die gekookte melkmengsel en meng goed. Mikrogolf dit op Hoog vir 5 minute. Haal uit die mikrogolf en roer goed. Mikrogolf dit vir nog 5 minute en roer weer goed. Voeg nou die eiergeelmengsel by en roer goed. Mikrogolf dit op Hoog vir 5 minute en roer weer goed. Klits die eierwitte styf. Vou die styfgeklopte eierwitte en vanielje liggies in. Laat staan vir 15 minute om te stol. Blop appelkooskonfyt hier en daar. Geniet saam met vla en/of roomys.
KONDENSMELK
BESTANDDELE
- 1½ koppies sago
- 3 koppies water
- 2 koppies melk
- ½ teelepel sout
- 1 blik kondensmelk
- 2 eiers + 1 eier geskei
- 1 eetlepel botter
- 1 teelepel vanielje-ekstrak
- kaneel om bo-oor te strooi (opsioneel)
METODE
Meng sago, water, melk en sout in die Large Gourmet Roaster. Kook vir 3 minute by 100% krag in die mikrogolfoond. Roer. Mikrogolf vir ‘n verdere 7 minute, roer na elke minuut. Voeg die res van die bestanddele by, behalwe die fyn kaneel. Roer goed deur. Skei die wit en die geel van 1 eier en klits die wit styf. Vou die styfgeklopte eierwit by die sagopoeding in tot goed gemeng. Laat staan vir 15 minute om te stol.
Blop appelkooskonfyt hier en daar. Geniet saam met vla en/of roomys.
BESTANDDELE – VLA
- 10 – 15 ml vlapoeier (hang af van hoe styf jy dit wil hê)
- 250 ml melk
- 10 – 15 ml suiker (hang af van hoe soet jy dit wil hê)
- 5 ml vanieljegeursel
- ‘n knippie sout
METODE
Berei eers die vlapoeier met ‘n klein hoeveelheid van die melk voor om klonte te vermy. Voeg die res van die melk, suiker en knippie sout by. Mikrogolf op hoog vir 2 minute of tot dit begin kook – roer elke 30 sekondes. Voeg die vanieljegeursel by. Roer en bedien warm of koud.
